So are you interested in starting a podcast too?
Fantastic and did it take you 3 hours to gain the confidence and overcome your self limiting beliefs to start? No? Ok maybe that last bit was just me!
So as I took the plunge to market and start my podcast I thought I'd help anyone else out who has a similar vision by documenting the process.
1. Decide on a niche for your Podcast.
Now this could be anything, but it needs to have some focus....or at least that's my experience to date. I have yet to find anyone interested in a podcast that jumps ship from topic to topic each episode.
Mental health, Anxiety, Money, Business, Single Parents, Moms, Cats, Dogs it can literally be anything!
2, Decide on what you want from this Podcast.
Do you want to interview people and pick their brains?
Do you want to podcast to market yourself, your products or services?
Do you want to speak about a speciality you are an expert in?
Have a think about this. It's important to know this at the back of your mind before you start.
3. How will you structure it?
Ok this may not be the exact next step but it's good to have an idea about whether it will be you speaking, perhaps on one topic a season? One topic an episode? Interviewing other experts?
Alongside this have a think about the duration, questions, introductions and outros etc.
4. Choose a name and tagline.
What will your podcast be called? Maybe think of a catchy tagline for it too?
You know, a bit like Find Your Voice & Write your own story - a movement led by Aren Deu. See what I did there?
5. Get some cover art done.
www.Canva.com is awesome as is Fiverr if you can find the right person and give them a good easy to follow brief.
Please note you will have size restrictions, especially if you want to put it onto iTunes:
1. A minimum size of 1400 x 1400 pixels.
2. A maximum size of 3000 x 3000 pixels.
3. 72 dpi.
4. JPEG or PNG format.
5. In the RGB color space.
6. Get an Introduction and Outro done.
This can be you, your neighbour, sibling or someone from Fiverr again. Im sure if you have listened to mine, you can tell it's not me doing the intro's and outro's.
Alternatively and probably the best way to get it done is utilising Audio Jungle which the majority of influencers are currently using.
7. Pick a hosting provider.
So I have searched thick and thin across all platforms. They all differ in price and bandwith allowance etc.
I finally went with Pippa who allow you to share it across all platforms such as iTunes, soundcloud, Deezer, YouTube, Twitter, Google Play, Stitcher, iHeartRadio, Spotify, Alexa..
---> Pippa <---
Utilise this and we both get a £25 Amazon Gift Card in the process.
How cool is that?
But more cool is the interface that you get utilising this platform. It has the RSS Feed Support too for a great price!
8. Choose your software to record on.
I use Audacity. It is so simple to use and was cheap as chips. Well almost.
--> https://www.audacityteam.org/ <--
No amazon vouchers here sorry!
Now as this only supports one audio input for recording at a time, it can only be used if you are both in the same room.
For podcast recordings of Skype, Zoom etc then maybe try Piezo?

9. Record your podcast.
I can't help you with this but really try and be present. Don't focus so much on the end result but more on the message you are trying to extract/portray or really spend the time understanding the person you are interviewing.
"To be interesting, be intereted" - as the great quote states!
10. Share it with the world!
Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat... all these can have links to your podcast which will be distributed accordingly with Pippa.Io if you choose to use that.

Have an awesome day & #JustDeuIt !
